Hello everyone, I found this gem of a site and I am hoping that someone on here or maybe multiple people might be will and able to help me out. I ordered what was supposed to be a blue java from a nursery called Wellspring Gardens. Pretty sure they cheated me, I will upload some images of it and see if any of you have any ideas as to what they sent me. I will also upload a second group of images(they will be labeled group 2 to avoid confusion) of a banana plant(pups) that were given to me by a fellow grower. He told me he got them around 30 years ago from someone that came here to the USA from somewhere in South America. Thanks for any and all help and if possible please list sources or how you are able to identify these bananas.

We need full over all pictures of the plants to start to make any identification. And, for many plants possessive identification can only be made after the plant flowers.

Wellspring's blue Java are most likely to be Namwah and is their track record for that variety.

The 2cn group appears to me to be Orinoco. I say that because of the green meristem and the sliver-ish look of the rolled cigar leaf (back of leaf). Anyway, we need the plant to grow more to verify it's variety. It being from South America would be normal. Orinocos are very much loved as an 'all-a-round' desert and cooking Banana for the local & home growers.

Thanks a lot :) I will keep an eye on them and watch as they grow. Hope the Namwa isn't a dwarf but if it is, oh well. Still get some homegrown bananas so I am happy. Tried uploading the pic of the full plant but it says the file is to big :( It has grown to almost 3 feet from just over 8 inches in about 2 and half months. Anyway I can tell if I have a dwarf banana plant at such a early stage by looking at it?

I am thinking about trying out a nursery I found online down in Homestead Florida called Going Bananas, anyone know if they are good?

That's easy, just chop the plant in half and up load anew picture of it. ...:08: ...

JUST KIDDING! Resize you photo to less than 800Kb then upload.
