Hi All. Wife and I bought a house. Now sorting out our landscape. We have a pool we love and I'm trying to grab some tropical feels.
I currently have 4 basjoo cold hardy plants in 4 separate pots and their leaves are growing nice and bright. But now I'm on a mission to find out how if I should plant them in the ground or leave them in the pots, and then how to fertilize accordingly.
Cheers:bananas_b

Have fun Here
Plant them in the ground...Now
Plant them in WELL amended soil.
Feed a miracle grow type water type water soluble the first year till they get established.
Then next year watch then take off.
Youtube offers great vids on how to grow Basjoos...pick and choose what you want to suit your budget.
Many forum members have a few ways to grow this plant....And all are good Ideas, just pick and choose to fit your budget

Thanks for the reply Cinc!
I'm nos stranger to forums so I'm sure i'll get down the rabbit hole soon. I need to find out the best way to amend the soil.
I'm still debating about ground planting because that will be a big risk for the winter. I'd love to keep them in the ground if I can. But will see.

Grow them out in containers for the first year.
Then overwinter indoors
This plant does better when the roots are established for a few months before the first Hard freeze.
