growing in the mid west, United States, SE Missouri, Western Kentucky,, night temps ranging in the upper 60's, soon maybe mid 70's,, day temps are reaching mid 90's, heat index , upper 90's.

is it best to water in the morning , or evening ?
plants are in full sun, except maybe very late evening.

Plants are in the ground,, although I do have some in pots outside

have heard pro's and con's of both.
just wanted to hear the experts opinion!!!
Thanks!!

I water just in the morning - typically. I think water at night is ok if the temperature stays above maybe 60F....

The biggest downside to watering in the morning, is that my grass is wet so I have to wear rubber boots to trek out in the yard...

I'm on the Gulf Coast. We get about 67 inches of annual rainfall with summer temps in the mid 90's and high humidity. Rainfall is fairly even on a month to month basis but its big dumps so we can have a week or more without rain and then boom 2 - 4 inches or more therefore irrigation is helpful in between the dumps.

I prefer to water in the early evening as the level of humidity begins to rise. Humidity can be 30% to 50% higher overnight than during the day. The higher humidity level reduces water losses from evaporation vs. watering during the day resulting in more water available to the plant for a longer period of time. I water the soil/mulch by hand using the hose with a watering nozzle set on max.

My namwas and raja puris are south facing and get full sun from about 10:00 am till about 6 pm.

I 100% agree with Akula!

I try to water in the evening. It really increases the humidity to the whole field overnight.

LOL Yes....I remember the Stag wallpaper in the man cave....coool.

My in ground plants(basjoo, orinoco) are on bubblers set for early morning before the Jungle comes alive.
Some of the bigger containers are on variable drip set for early am also
Veggies too.:)
I water in the am.
Turf is always in the early am starts at 4am

But I do like to drag the hose around a bit when I get home from work sometimes I have a cup holder on it.

Raining quite a bit in Northwest, Florida since mid-May. Great for nanners however the mosquito population has exploded over the last week.
