Hi-

I have a new Blue Java plant I set in the ground 2 weeks ago...

The leaves were all green upon planting....yet now they are beginning to develop yellowish brown discoloration.

A new leaf developed...yet I see the small start of the same discoloration..

Is this:

Overwater?
Under-water?
Sunburn?
Stress due to transplant?
All of the above or something I did not list?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Looks like shock/sunburn. Way too much sun on a new plant. But it will probably recover just fine where it is. Where did you get it from?

Thank you so much.

I was in such a hurry to get her in the ground...I didn't read all of the "easing" information until it was too late. Lesson learned.

I purchased it from a grower in Sacramento. I stumbled across it on Facebook. (I have been wanting to get into bananas for quite some time and finally moved forward).

This gentleman had a ton of specimens. All kinds...California Gold, these, and plantains. And easily the largest Red I have ever laid eyes on....All of his plants were incredibly robust.

Considering this plants current condition; should I take any corrective measures? Like try to shade it some, or drench it with water? I have been watering it daily...not a lot of water but keeping the soil moist...a very slow trickle...maybe a half gallon or so a day in the late evening. The soil seems to drain well...a mix of sand, compost/manure, & local soil. I fed her once with Banana Fuel.

I really appreciate your insight. I really want to do this right.
