Way to be creative! :2783:

Also, I suggest that there should be items like clothing, mugs, and accessories.

It would also be cool if you could buy something that made threads you make stay on the front page longer.

Mason,

Click on the Merchandise link at the top of the page and you'll find that very thing (mugs, clothing, etc.), though I don't think you can use $BB. My apologies if that was your point.

How about a knit cap for winter, shaped and colored bright yellow like a banana? Might have the Bananas.org logo? (Speaking of that, Jarred, why not have a contest to come up with an official Logo for Bananas.org - other than the words?) Hmmmmmm......

First, real things cost real money to make.

Where are you guys getting the idea that BananaBucks can be used for these materialistic items?
If that were the case, someone would be getting severely ripped off, because I am sure half this board has enough BananaBucks that they would go and buy this material item, leaving the person manufacturing or supplying the item in quite a sufficient defecit.

I, personally, would not like to put this supplier (which would be Jarred) in this sort of situation. Please do not consider this a sort of attack, just my opinion.

Plus, he just finished making the BananaBucks Shop with loads of free virtual things you can put your BananaBucks to good use in, that won't cost him a dime. :)

Very true. I didn't think of that.

I concur: Jarred does more than enough already without footing the bill for anything else.

What could work is donations: nana pups, other plants, etc. The Banana bucks could only be valid for some of these items but must pay cash for only the shipping.

Only a suggestion.

Taylor,

I don't think anyone was trying to "attack" anyone or anything. My comment about Banana Bucks was only meant to be clear that the items on the Cafepress site were for cash only. I agree with you wholeheartedly that Jarred does more than enough for us at this site and that no one should be left holding the bag so to speak. However, Jarred has mentioned in the recent past that at some point $BB may be used to "purchase" (or exchange) for live plants. So it sounds like at some point the $BB may have some "cash" value. I could be wrong about that, though.
Have a great day everyone!

No, you're right Brent.

Do we know what he meant by that (trade for real items)? I was thinking that he meant that for person to person trades or sales, not including him, maybe I thunk wrong.

I like Pablo's idea a lot.

Thanks for the thread everyone. I agree, it would be fun to have more things to use the BB$ for. We have the cafepress shop (it made I think 1 sale, ever..lol) and we have the virtual plaza where we can do fun things like enhance your profile or your threads on the site. I did say that I would like to allow them to be used for plants. Members can sell bananas for BB$, and I will as well (on behalf of the Society as a whole). Also, when I do offer banana plants for BB$, I want people to have enough banana bucks earned so that it does not seem so far out of reach if they want the plant. I'm just thinking out loud here, really...
The whole banana bucks system and the shop are pretty new concepts here, its sort of an experiment in progress, and these things take time to flesh out and design properly, work out the bugs and kinks, etc.
You will, though, very soon see new things get added, such as awareness ribbons for many popular causes of concern to society. I dearly appreciate the thread and I love to see when members suggest things for the Society and for the website, it gives me sign that there's life out there, and that things are on the right track. :)
So keep the ideas coming but lets not bite off much more than we can chew, I personally try to avoid that and if things seem like they are not moving fast enough, thats partly why. We experienced explosive growth this year and theres a lot of things happening to keep everything balanced. Like I said, I'm thinking out loud here, and I'm speaking to you guys as if we were all in a room together having a chat.
So keep the ideas coming, and know that I will always try and prioritize everything. I take notes of what needs to be handled and I try to address the most pressing things first.

That was me and I love my shirts! I proudly wear them to the farmers market, dog agility classes and competitions, trips to the nursery, etc etc.

You all need to go and buy something already! :)

Jarred,

Bravo for all that you do! I'm sure that none of us know how much time it truely takes you to keep this site up and running, much less add new things to it. We are truely appreciative.
