planted in central TX- soil composition- a little sandy loam, perlite, peat moss little garden soil and brown mulch. I think it’s straight but I’m also about to pass out from the heat so I could be off I had go put sevin dust down to some ants hidden in the ground. I made a little berm of soil. It’s a pretty sunny area till about 2. I was trying to avoid the afternoon sun that’s brutal during the summer. Any advice is greatly appreciated. https://flic.kr/p/27voaHu

I saw the pics no problem. To be honest it doesn't look like much growth. It looks happy and healthy.

This summer I would fertilize monthly and make sure it has enough water. And keep the mulch 2-3" thick and 3-6' diameter.

Any recommendations for fertilizer. I typically use organic fish fertilizer on my other plants - about every three weeks

I just looked farther back through your flicker pictures and I think I saw your one year old photos. A year ago the plant was about 2' tall? If so that sounds about right.

I fertilize my bananas with 8-4-12 with minors. I would give a plant your size about one cup a month during the growing season. Bananas are HEAVY feeders. They grow really fast so they need lots of fertilizer. More than any other plant I grow.

Looks like a successful transplant..
Do not be alarmed when the lower leaves turn brown just trim them off this is normal.

For fertilizer you will get all kinds of great answers, buy and use what you can afford and is readily available at the store.

I will use 15-15-15- through 19-19-19 standard horticultural fertilizer for in ground basjoos and most containers as well as landscape plants.

Nothing special however I do purchase all my fertilizers at the fall clearance .

I try to stock up also when the fertilizer is on sale. I was told recently that you have to seal closed any open bags before you store them. I was told that the nitrogen will evaporate out in an open bag. I'm not sure how true this is but I figure it is better to be safe then sorry.

Last question- we’ll for now at least- insects? The new leaf already has bite in it. Less than 24 hours in the ground Is Neem oil diluted okay to use or any recommendations for best deterrent against TX bugs.
