My father and this Blue Java quest got me going on growing peppers again.
So I am germinating red and chocolate scotch bonnets. I will post when things sprout (or die).

The latest fad was Carolina Reaper and Bhut Jolokia before that. Been there, done that.

In my experience, hot peppers are easier to grow than bell peppers. Some people falsely believe that they are difficult to grow because they are unusual.
I freeze these peppers and grate frozen peppers over my food.

What do you do with your peppers? Do you dry and make flakes or do you use them in rice and stuff? I know you can throw scotch bonnet peppers in rice to give it heat and flavor of the pepper. I grew a bunch of cayenne peppers last year and used some on pizza but most I dried into flakes and sprinkled on like all my food lol

We are pepper crazy over here. I had all the Ghost peppers growing at one point. I may have only lost the standard red. We like to use the Chocolate Ghost, the flavor is really nice. My wife makes delicious tropical fruit hot sauces with them.
We just harvested some huge "Salad" peppers that are a few generations old now. They get bigger every time and are also open pollinated with other various peppers.
I also like to make a pepper spray with peppers for plants. Keeps aphids off the nanners.

I've tried to make rabbit repellant spray from ghost peppers and it didn't work. Neither did a commercial repellant. This year, I am going to try a synthetic capsaicin, nonivamide. which can be purchased on Ebay.

Great job.
Some folks see heat ...some see flavor..
I see flavor and discomfort..
Not a bad thing...not a bad thing.

My four chocolate scotch bonnets have just popped and are in my makeshift nursery (my makeshift I mean a corner of the house protected by the winds).
