I love a good hamburger. I can remember some hamburgers that I ate 60 years ago. So, for over 20 years, Steak 'n Shake has bombarded me with saturation advertising on TV (from an antenna located in downtown Chicago), and offered me great money saving coupons almost every week in the Sunday Chicago Tribune. And, yet, I have never been to a Steak n' Shake because 12 miles of city driving is too much.

Has anyone eaten a Steak 'n Shake hamburger? How was it?

You do live close to a nice pizza and microbrew place part owned by Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick called Piece. Good brews and pies.

Aren't these the most attractive coupons that you have ever seen?:

Does anyone have a theory about why Steak 'N Shake would surround me outside of a 12 mile radius? At first, I thought that they wanted to stay out of Cook County to avoid county taxes or laws, but, Evanston and Rosemont are in Cook County. It makes no sense to me.

You seem to live not too far from the intersection of cermark and cicero which I think is in Cicero, IL not too far from the Chicago line. I am glad that I have not lived in that area for many years and I certainly do not miss it. Within the core areas of the city itself a lot of the common box and chain stores were not so common.
If you are willing to travel there are good ethnic restaurants about the city. There use to be a good Polish Restaurant not very far from your current location. And from your name which ends in sky you just might know of it. At one time it was said there were more Polish people in the chicago area than in Warsaw.

The fries at SNS are to die for!!!

Had a Wahlburger in the city last week ...it was good.

Taco Bell gives a free drink with every senior food order just in case you want to Liv Mas.

Burger King has 2 for $6......mix and match

Sliders are still under .70 Each

A decent steak at Morton's will set you back your first born.

Polish names end in "ski" not "sky." I am Bohemian on my father's side and German on my mother's. There were two famous Bohemian restaurants in Cicero and now there is only one that I know of.

Thanks. I always have coupons for 2 for 1 hamburgers at Burger King and Culvers. Sometimes I have 2 for 1 coupons for Mac Donald's. Often, I have coupons for White Castle hamburgers. Frozen White Castle Hamburgers are sold at supermarkets, but, the bread is dried out and awful. I like hard shelled tacos but they don't microwave well. I also have a Five Guys Hamburger restaurant nearby, but, they are expensive and never offer coupons. Dairy Queen follows a pattern similar to Steak N Shake, but, at least, I've been to Dairy Queen about 40 years ago.

People outside the Chicago area probably never heard of Italian Beef Sandwiches. It is very good and frozen Buona Italian Beef can be purchased relatively cheaply at supermarkets. There are many other brands of frozen Italian Beef, but, only Buona is restaurant quality.

I have heard of them....but never had them.

Food...so much, so little time.
