Has anyone tried Ensete superbum in Southern Florida? If so did it die in the summer heat like E. ventricosum does, or just wilt a bit:2739:? Someone in S.Florida mentioned awhile ago that they didn't like the extreme heat, but I'm wondering if was the Thailand superbum, or the Indian superbum.

Thanks,
Kyle

I gave my Thai superbum to Going Bananas in Homestead, they said it has done wonderfully and become a very impressive plant. I don't know about the Indian superbum in Florida, but I saw a beautiful flowering specimen on the north coast of Big Island, Hawaii, its not really hot there like FL but never cold either.

Right on, that's good news. I would guess that the Indian superbum would be more dry heat tolerant(maybe more overall), so that's a good sign for them in hot weather.

Did the flowering one set seed? That's another question I've been wondering about superbum, if they set seed easy via bisexual flower like E.ventricosum.

All 3 times I've seem flowering specimens, they did not have mature, fertilized fruit. And as far as I know the flowers are unisexual.
