I havn't heard any one mention Lime..

what I have heard, is that lime is what helps activates the fertilizer and helps the plant absorb it,, also raises the ph of the soil.
what I use is a 13-13-13 with pelleted lime as a filler , that I get from a agriculture feed/ seed and grain elevator store ( that my father used to own) that mixes the fertilizer to what ever you want,, mainly to farmers for their fields,, mixes it in mass quantities for BIG spreaders,, but they do bag some up for the general public.. $15.00 for a 50 lb bag.

this mixture has made my plants grow like crazy,,

just wondering why no one has mentioned Lime?

Not everyone needs lime. My soil is Ph neutral to slightly acidic. The need for lime depends upon the soil type and Ph level. Lime does not work on the fertilizer directly, but raise the soil Ph. Soils with low Ph (<6) or high Ph (8 & above) will reduce the effectiveness of fertilizers. Apply lime to raise the Ph or sulfur to lower Ph. ... The Ph range for gardens is 6 to 7.2. Bananas prefer a Ph of about 6 to 6.5.

I usually need sulfur or use fertilizers formulated to be acidic. Do a soils test for Ph to determin your needs.

actually there are many threads and posts on lime. I just did one not to long ago. talk is mainly about plants lacking calcium and lime is a fix. hit search on the top bar. type in lime on the left side, just under [key words]. then hit search now. you can find almost anything you want here using that.
