Are any of you having leafhopper trouble? These lil guys are on all my bananas. They hide in the midribs/petiole canals while they do thier dirty work. I've never had problems with them before but they seem to be everywhere this year.

I like insecticidal soaps for those little nasties. Try Safer's brand.

yes safer's or i like volck oil, it seems to work well on spider mites which to me were hard to get rid of, i have not had problems with leafhoppers as of yet here, if the plant is small and it wont be fruiting soon you can use orthenex which is super strong, altho it cannot be used on "edible" plants

Hey, Pete...I've noticed a larger number than usual this year as well. I was just commenting about it to my wife last night. Maybe it has something to do with the dry weather. I haven't noticed them doing any damage to my bananas though.
By the way, the Dw. Red is doing really well!

Awsome!
If you watch these guys you can see that they are constantly firing waste(akin to honeydew?) into the air .I would say one drop per second .So you know that they must be pulling a lot of moisture/nutrients from the plants.
