Thanks Jarred, that was cool! I like how in the second video he says the leaves are cut to let in more sunlight so the plant can continue to grow. :ha:

That was very informative. I had 1 question. Why are they letting the mother stem continue to grow. Is it to produce pups, I thought they only flowered once?

Yea its cut down right away so the pups can get light and shoot up.
When I heard what the narrator said, at first I was like.. ummmmm.. then I realized he must really mean for the other plants on the mat to get sun.

Gadget, you can post them in the thread, just take the link and find this part:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1DBQgAJTWgThen wrap it in yt tags like this:
U1DBQgAJTWgI constructed this post so it won't parse into a video, but if you try it just like that, it will embed the video.
I will now go add a youtube button to the text editor so you can just type the U1DBQgAJTWg part and highlight it, then click the youtube button to wrap it with the yt tags.

OK, now you can just paste the U1DBQgAJTWg part and click the YouTube icon I just added. If you don't see the icon, you must click the Go Advanced button to see the full what-you-see-is-what-you-get editor with all the post editing options. The Quick Reply box you see at the bottom of this thread is the slimmed down version. In addition to this new YouTube button, the Go Advanced version also gives you the smileys :)

Many thanks for recommending my video here.
But I am sorry, this is not a Del Monte plantation. It's from a friend.

Thank you for clarifying that, Chris. Looks like they are in partnership of the cooperative by the labels on the boxes. I will update the first post to remove that suggestion.

Thank you for clarifying that, Chris. Looks like they are in partnership of the cooperative by the labels on the boxes.
I know different types of bananeros. The contracted one and the spot market. Contracted: you sign a contract with a big Company like ... for having a stable price for the next year. Spot market: you sell to whom most offers. This can be a very good business, because sometimes the contracted farms cannot fulfill their quotes and the big ones have to buy on the spot market, because it's much cheaper then a half loaded vessel. To find the balance is not so easy for a bananero and is a big problem for the bananeros with small plantations. Sometimes we worked for more then 4 companies in the same week, one contracted and 3 on the spot market.
