Just came across this banana being sold through Rivers End Nursery and Farms in South TX.
Has anyone ever heard of it? Couldn't find it on Wiki or Google as River's End was the only link found.
Curious about it and want to know if it has any other names. Here is the link, not much info:
Rivers End Nursery and Farm: Dessert Bananas (Eaten Fresh) (http://www.riversendnursery.com/products.asp?group=ADCF735C&sort=scientific)
Thanks!

Thanks Richard, I was just looking at that, too. Once I found the correct spelling I re-Googled it. (is that a word???) lol
Everything else I found was in different language. Hope to find out more, so I guess I will order one.

Stumpy, I have never heard of them (Rivers End) but I have heard good things about WeBeBananas.com he is a member here and lots of people get their bananas from him. So that is where I am going to go. Rivers End has them for $10 + s&h but I don't know what WeBeBananas wants for one.

Thanks Scot, I am always kinda leary to buy from someone noone has heard of before. Especially if it deals with bananas and noone here knows them. I'm still just learning so I would be easy prey for a scheister, Not saying Rivers End is. The smart thing would be to be satisfied with the bananas I have but its so addicting to try to get more.

I wrote and ask about their shipping costs..I'm in Texas .. I miss quoted what I read ...OOOPS!!!
Sooooo I will just post the reponse I recieved...
"We field dig our bananas on order. They are not rooted out and there
is
some weight to them. Typically a banana plant sent to your zip code
would
have a boxing charge of $5 and shipping costs of about $20. That would
be a
total of $41.25 for a single banana. We ship UPS ground and just
charge you
whatever UPS charges us."

I guess that beats the cost of driving 550 miles each way from Millsap down to Los Fresnos and back! But from their website Rivers End Nursery (http://www.riversendnursery.com)
Please note that we do not ship to California.
Fortunately, it's a 20 minute drive for me to We Be Bananas (http://www.webebananas.com).

Bad news banana fans - WeBeBananas doesn't have them and won't have them. Rare-bananas has discontinued them. The only place I could find on Google (besides some addresses in Arabic or sanskrit) was River's End. Sooooo, I guess that is where I will have to go to get one. I guess that being so rare, a 1 gallon plant is worth $41. So, it might be awhile until we see any pups.
I will let you know how the experience goes with River's End. Crossing my fingers and praying that it is what it is supposed to be. Seems rather stange that only one place has them, and it is an unknown nursery.....but hope springs eternal.
