A friend took these photos of a clump of dwarf banana plants that were growing along the roadside. They're 3' tall at most. What variety are they?

I don't know but, I would like someone to convince me that it is not 'Little Prince' nor 'Truly Tiny.'

For sure not truly tiny or little prince. Those 2 do not produce fruit. Not reliably anyway. All super dwarfs are super dwarf cavendish! Usually the taller and older ones like Novak produce fruit. I have a bunch of Novak right now. It may be slightly taller than the pictured one. They are very cool to grow.

Some make full sized bananas like yours. Others make slightly smaller fruit it seems.

I have pictures of mine in the link below....

It is my understanding that the climate of Singapore is hotter than Hawaii's and just as humid. Those conditions may promote fruiting of 'Little Prince' or 'Truly Tiny' more than the climates of Hawaii, Florida, California, or Texas, in which case, the experience of Americans, ''do not produce fruit," doesn't count.

(31 deg. C. is 88 deg. F.)

If I were porkchop, I would grow them just to see whether they bloom and produce fruit and be the first to report it here.

I have an SDC fruiting right now,

https://flic.kr/p/CuUX95

But if you buy a truly tiny chances are you won’t see fruit. I have 2 separate truly tiny clones and neither have ever flowered. One was pushing non stop in ground for almost 3 years.

SDC that bloom here do so within a single season. Just my experience. As any Musa if you want fruit make sure the pup is off of a mother fruit that has fruited.

I can also confirm the ones JD sells produce fruit also.
At one time a clone TCed and sold at Logees I can confirm produces.

I have 3 total clones of SDC that fruit.
I have had 1 clone purchased as SDC that did not fruit.
I have 2 total clones of Truly Tiny that do not fruit.

They can fruit! Just research and verify before you buy if your looking for a for sure fruiter is all I’m saying!
