I know there are several of us in the Indianapolis area that grow bananas. I have Musa Basjoos in my backyard and sadly they'll have to come down in a few weeks. I got mine at the local nursery three years ago and I have seen people having them in their yards. Anyway, I see this on my way to work every day. I wished I knew the person to ask what kind of banana that is in their front yard. I know, awkward HA

So does anyone know what kind of banana plant this is?

They appear to be 'Orinoco'

I agree with Gabe.

so I take this isn't a cold hardy plant? I did some research and it was talking zones 9 and higher. I'm guessing the person who owns this plant goes to a lot of trouble keeping it alive through out the went winter months. They have done a great job since the plant had bananas. Thanks for the help!

I bet if you asked .....the person would offer up a pup.

Thats just how gardeners are.:)
