Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice with my Ice Cream Banana trees. This year has been my first dive into growing bananas (and gardening in general for the most part). I planted these guys about 3 months ago and they've really shot up in that time. Having done my research a little late, I now know I need to separate those pups so that they don't compete for nutrients. It's not too late, is it??? Any tips for doing a late-term pup separation?

This is in Central Florida by the way. (Hence why they're so windswept after Hurricane Irma; I did some major pruning before and after the storm).

Any other tips in regards to soil composition and fertilizing? I've been using Black Kow, but are they any other organic fertilizers I need to be using?

Thanks!

Take a sharpshooter/trench shovel and pop em off!! There are guides here and on YouTube. It's easier in some ways! You can't really mess up vs small pups. On pups this size I like to cut the pstem back to 3' or so. I find it helps a lot. You will get fast New strong growth.

Good luck!!
