Musa ' Pitu ' right now. https://flic.kr/p/X1jPfQ
Had some pretty good experience with Musa ' Pitu ' this year. If not for a mega late freeze, I would have gotten to try the fruit by now. it is fruiting again now so hope I get to try this fruit this time. My plants are stocky and hardy around 8 feet. Temperatures into the mid 20s for a long time did not bother the plants much at all. Burnt the leaves but a fruit bud still came out. The fruit itself could not tolerate that last long freeze but the rest of the plants kept growing just fine. It is mainly green and IMO bluggoe like. It is listed as AA then relisted as AAA but performs much more cold hardy than either. Information is confusing because one source listed it as a 26cm fruit and the USDA list it as a 16cm fruit so maybe there was a mix up at some point. It is listed as a cooking banana but nothing for it is said as far as fresh eating is concerned but I will describe it when that time comes. I hope it is a good fresh eating variety because I believe this to be a great beginner banana all around. Grows pretty well with little care and less nutrition and seems to not be demanding in anyway. Not sure how this plant is so ignored.
Here are photos from the beginning of the year.
