Please help! This is a banana that my dad brought home from his job. (Someone had thrown these out). One of them was making a flower when it was cut, and when I planted it here it continued developing like normal. The original plants were 15-20 feet tall if that helps. I compared it to my orinoco but they do not seem to be the same.

It's 'Orinoco', what about it makes you think it is not when compared to your other plants?

I relate to the confusion. I have different types of orinocos that i collected from homesites and such from around the state of Florida. That plant looks my samples from Tampa. And mine do that premature thing as well. First one was one foot high and last one was 3 feet. Orinoco for sure.

I agree 100% it's a small Musa Orinoco bunch. A lot of times they will die back from winter and sit under the soil or as a "dead plant" then one day start to grow again. It will seem like a new plant but will be the original plant that grew then died back or paused.

I have a tall namwa that grew all year last year and "died" this past winter. Rotted to the corm. Now just a few weeks ago that 17' plant that died to the ground started growing from the same growth point again. It happens.

Winter does strange things to them!

Congrats on the flower!
