I am moving to Sousa Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic from Toronto. I desperately want a jade vine to climb on a large pergola in my backyard but I can't find any information if they can grow in this location. I have quarter of an acre but I heard they grow massive! I've searched everything and can't find anything!!!

Actually there is a wealth of info on the web about this awesome plant.
It seems they grow pretty massive.

I googled "Jade vine care" and got a lot of hits as well as some Youtube videos and sources for seed.

It is a tropical so you might have good luck with it..:2738:

My search indicated the plant grows well in zones 10 & 11. It needs constant temps above 60 deg F, so north of zone 10 the plant needs to be green house grown or grown as a potted house plant. ..... USE google search and you will find all the info needed.

This forum is so interesting.... You would think people would know more about plants than just bananas.

Jade should do just fine. I would plant it on a junk tree. The base of our vine is about as big as my arm. They are aggressive... But like with all vines they can be kept back.

Hi Jesse-

Welcome aboard the Banana Express. :nanerwaveytrain:

Now the only problem is to try and get a jadeShouldn't you just wait until you move there and try and get one locally?

A great friend of mine's grandmother made the original DR flag. He's still got it, much to the chagrin of those who stayed behind. From what he tells me, it's a beautiful country.

I'm actually here right now. I leave tomorrow and come back to Puerto Plata in December. When I come again is when I'll look
