How strong are the Musa bajoo to disease to fungal like blight etc? Just curious as blight and spot had just destroyed my peach and plum trees.

Sorry to hear about the peaches and plums! My pear trees get bad rust and I'm about to pull some of them out because they are going to be more work than reward....
Basjoo should have no problems in Maryland in the summer months. I live in PA and my plants grow like crazy from late spring till fall. One issue we may have is if the plants get too much rain this time of year, perhaps the corms can rot. But proper soil should help prevent that.
The only other issue would be to get a proper winterization plan to keep them from rotting / getting mold during storage.
Enjoy!

What fungicide did you use? Copper sulfate will control many garden fungus as a preventive. I spray this on my banana plants a 2 or 3 times during the growing season. It is also used by the big banana plantations.

I also use copper and neem but with the amount of rain that we have been getting nothing seems to work. We have had a rain filled May and even my figs are developing rust. The figs I can save. my peaches were more work than I wanted so I gave th m away

I have had basjoo for 5 years in Pennsylvania and never used fungicide. I have used Japanese beetle spray but even that wasn't necessary some years. I have figs too - Celeste and brown Turkey but no rust for them. Maybe I am lucky.....
