Another option if you want Musella is to order the seeds from Tropical Plants and Palm Trees by The Banana Tree, Tropical Seeds, Banana trees, Banana Plant (http://www.banana-tree.com) and sprout them yourself. I paid $9 for 100 seeds. The seeds sprouted between 1-2 months. I had 20+ lasiocarpa seeds sprout.

I've ordered lots of plants through Stokes as well and have always been happy with the plants I recieve. I have noticed they offer far less varieties now than they did 5 years ago. Did Katrina hit them???

I'll jump in here since I live near them and have been friends of the family for over 10 years. They are very reputable people. Just with any business, sometimes bad things happen but they are very dedicated to the satisfaction of their customers and they do try to remedy any problems. They weren't affected by Katrina or Rita but have narrowed their selection of plants that are their most popular sellers. However, they have so many plants that are not advertised on their website, if you want something special, it would be worth it for you to call them and ask about a particular plant. I highly recommend them.

Good luck with the seeds! IME, Ensetes are VERY easy to sprout compared to Musas. They can begin sprouting within a couple weeks. From what I've read, Musella is closely related to ensete (moreso than musas are). In fact, I believe it was labeled as an Ensete at one point (before, many had labeled it as Musa). The sprouts appear more like Ensetes, but the seeds are smaller. Growth is pretty quick too (more like Ensete).

The one thing I like about ordering from Stokes... the plants are usually fairly large compared to other companies.

Stokes has very good stock. Aside from the fact that they have had a catalog for years and a large website they are very personal and a visit to the nursery will always be enjoyable.

No problem, just PM me if you decide you want one. Right now, my main plant has been blooming since early spring and is showing no signs of stopping. It must be putting most of it's energy into the flower as there are only 2 decent sized pups but a few more are starting to show up. It has also been very dry here this year. I have some plants that are easily only half the size right now that they were this time last year. We need some rain big time!!
