My apologizes ... I was thinking that Orinoco/bluggoe do not have red mid ribs. But I walked out to look at my Orinocos some of the pups Do and thin red edges. ... I also have a Dwarf Orinoco which presented the red mid rib and leaf edge. This red generally fades to green as the Orinoco grows.

I also have a young 1000 Finger with a pup near by. It looks near identical to my Orinoco's. Only the mid rib where it joins the pstem appears slightly (very slight) more reddish by visible comparison. I also most missed it but, one leaf of the 1000 Finger had very slight wine stains.

While the pictures above are Orinoco/bluggoe, the Orinoco & 1000 Finger are indistinguishable at this stage of growth; at least for me.

Orinoco

If the p-stem is 7-8', would that make it a Dwarf Orinoco? Or can a regular Orinoco fruit that short? I have what I think is a regular (tall) Orinoco at our place on the coast 9B, and I have a Dwarf Orinoco at home 8B but it hasn't fruited yet, so I'm curious.

Looks very similar to my Bluggoe from Albany. What state are you in Danny?

Looking at the top of the plant it's not a dwarf Orinoco it's a tall. They vary in height. But dwarf Orinoco stack out at 7-8' and have a very unique look. Foto my picture gallery and click dwarf Orinoco and there is a couple pics of stacked out dwarf Orinocos. One is "image4" other is unlabeled. And both tall and dwarf Orinoco can have red midribs. Just no wine spots! Unless you spill your wine on them :bananas_b

Nice tall Orinoco bunch. Congrats!

WA, SW. Nice! I was told it was from carnarvon so I always assumed a cavendish type. I'm happy if is indeed bluggoe. What height do yours normally reach?

If you look in my albums, there are two types I have. I think yours is more closer to the swan river one. There is alot of confusion over bananas in perth, partly due to how they got here originally.I have canarvon bananas that are definetly some sort of dwarf Cavendish as well as one Im yet to ID called asian and another called primitive. Theres also an unidentified one kicking round with sour orange flesh Im hoping for a pup of. It may be hua moa.
