It appears to be an AA cultivar. It grows fast and has a short fruiting cycle.
Still haven't gotten an Emerald Florida but would expect the all green version to do better.

The color is stunning on this one though. I would love to have one just for the contrast, where can I get one? I tried to do some research on these but couldn't find much about them. if you know where we can get ahold of one I would be interested. Also like to know how cold sensitive it is and how the fruit tastes. thanks!

How short is the fruiting cycle? Shorter than a Veinte Cohol?

Difficult to believe... That's about how long it takes to grow tomatoes... In places where they grow well, like, not Florida.

It's common from some folks only to view growing bananas from their skill set and growing conditions, but most bananas plants can be grown quickly.
There's a thread on flowering an AAB Huamoa which is a much larger plant and produces a giant bunch in about five months, maybe it was a little less, but regardless and photos were posted on a regular basis throughout the entire process. And it was grown in a pot which really helps speed things up a lot.

We had a couple good frosts this year along with no rain since the hurricane. Everybody's bananas around here look terrible. How nice it would be to have regular rains and no cold nights in winter to stress my bananas.
I should start a gofundme to move to Kauai...

Most of my photos are on another computer but the photo from this thread is accurate.
Do you have a photo of the male bud?
The fruits had ripen and been munched by squirrels as we speak, but i'm having problems with my camera. I'll try to salvage what I can. It does not look like a variety that has great shelf life though.
Yes, this is the first time that this variety had successfully fruited for me. The fruits are not seedy. I am aware that there are sellers on eBay selling seeds that even have photos of variegated seedlings to prove their claims, but I can find none on mine.
Here are photos of 2 other plants that did not quite make it (seems like trimming is mandatory to get the fruits successfully developed).
http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=43122&size=1 (http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=43122)http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=43121&size=1 (http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=43121)
One of my contacts had sent a better photo of a fruiting bunch that came from a (seemingly defunct) website of a local nursery that had them a while back. I don't think that I can post it here since I don't even know the owners of the photo, but I would be glad to send them through email.
The fruits from that photo and the ones I have look very similar to all those Ae Ae/Florida that are advertised by Thai nurseries (atgtree.com, kingadenium.com, bkinterplants etc), which looks different from the fruits of Ae Ae in the States.
p/s: can anybody help me source an Ae Ae pup?

They are on eBay all the time. Just keep watching. They are one of the most popular variegated bananas on eBay. Not a rare banana at all. I got mine from this seller so I can verify they are a great seller. They are from Puerto Rico and send huge corms but they send them bare root. They have other variegated varities also. 100% positive feedback and ship fast!
I bought my Musa Florida for $60 shipped. They normally rage from $50-$100.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/182488539921
Also this seller I have dealt with several times and is a great seller. You would have to verify with PR Giants but I'm pretty sure it's where he got his Musa Florida, Musa Dwarf Namwa, and maybe others. He also ships the plant in soil in a pot! He doesn't even cut the pstem to ship like others do he ships the entire plant UNCUT with all leaves intact. Can't beat that! Also that costs more to ship from him to you, so you can figure that extra expense into the price. The first plant I got from him 2 years ago or so was overwatered. He has corrected this and the last 2 were in perfect condition. I know of 2 friends who's also arrived in excellent condition!
This is a Big one! See the XXL 4 Footer in the title! He sends this whole 4' plant. Not a single leaf cut off. You may end up getting fruit in 3 months! He sells smaller ones for less.

If I don't like them, they are gone, I grow them to eat, except Namwah.. They get to stay for two reasons... My wife likes them and since they supposedly make nice big bunches I can give them away so people don't think me stingy when I hoard the Paggi when I get them. :D :D

Thanks for the info, I was considering getting one from that seller and I'm sure all of us would love to see pictures of how they arrived. Could you post the photos on this thread so we can all see what we'd be getting.
Their description was very short and not clear on how they would be shipped.
"5 available similar on photo....? Let me know please"
The photo is of a little plant.
Did they send the little plant or a huge bare root corm, photos will really help. Thanks
It's great they have 100% feedback but I did notice that it was all as the buyer.
They had zero feedback as the seller, you should leave them feedback so everyone on eBay will also know how great a seller they are.
And if you can post the photos of your 2 friends plants that arrived in excellent condition, that would be great too.
Again Thanks for helping all of us. :goteam:

I bought one from the guy in Florida. I'll let every one know how it goes once i get it. As for the price, yes it's a lot more than anything I have got so far, but this one is for the looks and not just the bananas. If you don't care about the look, I would get something else.

I just received a photo of the plant that one of Tytaylor77 two friends received and it's not as terrible as the one I received but it certainly looks very bad.
We'll all know more when Tytaylor77 posts the photos but something seems a little odd.
Hope your plant arrives safely, the seller doesn't secure the pot to the box so sometimes the pot crushes all of the leaves but that's not a problem because the leaves are not necessary and the plant will grow new perfect ones.
Keep us updated, thanks

I'm more than happy to share all my pictures. I take detailed pictures to document the rooting and growth times. It was a rootless cleaned corm. That is why I am reporting since I took the gamble buying it. But it paid off. This corm has rooted in coarse sand faster than any before it!
I do not know the seller or profit in any way from them selling. I just have just bought from them before and I'm sharing my experience to help others. I didn't like how the listing description was either. I now believe it was due to language barrier. English is not their first language. They was still able to communicate ok with me.
MDA/Mike in Flordia is somehow connected to them maybe related? I'm not sure. The seller told me the plants were originally from Mike/MDA. That would make them the exact same clone and source as yours right PR-Giants? So that makes them the same clone/plant as yours. If yours are anything special these are also. Just so no one is confused.
Mike/MDA I have been extremely happy with. I have purchased 4 plants from him now. All arrived fine. He DOES secure the pot or foil wrapped rootball to the box. My plants have been very secure and packaged great. All are in amazing condition and have been growing great. He is a great eBay seller and really appreciates his buyers and their business. He will go out of his way to help you and thank you! Which is hard to find. Some ebay sellers you spend several hundred dollars with and never hear a "Thank You". The only thanks you get is being blocked from even viewing their listings. I'm just happy there are lots of options for potential buyers and collectors so we don't have to deal with childish sellers like those. :ha::ha::ha:
Here are the pictures and I will describe them and lay out a time frame:
3/20/2017 - Here is when I received my cleaned corm from the Puerto Rico eBay seller in question. It's on the right side! The one on the left is a mystery variegated shipped by a friend directly from Cambodia! I'm excited to see what it ends up being. I have 2 new variegated corms from the friend in Cambodia. Both shipments came in on the same day! Very good day!!

3/26/2017 - Next is the day the Puerto Rico eBay corm in question rooted. You will notice it was 6 days! That's my corm rooting record. A few friends can verify because I was very very excited about it! Only 6 days in sand in March! Amazing! I call that a very very good corm. I moved it to my potting mix this day. I only use sand for rooting.
http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=61410&size=1 (http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=61410&ppuser=20917)
4/10/17 - it's pushing. This corm was rooted outside so it wasn't as warm as it could have been in March-April. Still not bad for the time of year.

You can compare the quality to this corm. PR-Giants is questioning the quality of my corms and what I say requesting I show proof when if you really want to compare corms here is my AEAE Manini corm from PR-Giants himself. Also purchased off eBay and I paid WAY more for it than others! You will notice it's pretty small to begin with. All chopped and cut to pieces (not sure why) and he dug his knife into it and removed/cored out 2 nubs (future pups). No clue why he does this to his corms. Please explain PR? What does this benefit? I hear it's a (dirty sellers trick) to make sure you do not get pups for a long time. Also he can (steal) your pups from your purchased corm and root them to sell to someone else. I would NEVER think of doing this to a "customer". It allows disease to enter the hole and sets back rooting. You say "SOMETHING SEEMS A LITTLE ODD" Now THIS seems a little odd to me! Please explain why you do this to all your corms? You can see the cored out hole on the right and there is another in the back you can't see in the pic. I didn't even complain about my $150 pup I just did the best I could with it.

Actually that are just smashed and used to feed the millipedes.
It would be a waste of time to do what you are suggesting, even many large sword pups get composted. There are always going to be more variegated pups than you can dig up, it is just part of growing bananas.
I have potted some up to show how to grow them but after I'm done they get smashed and feed the millipedes.
I haven't show photos of that because it serves no purpose, but this is a variegated nub from a couple days ago. This is just one but they all got smashed.

This is a large pup that came off of a variegated pup that went to a conservatory near Chicago. I didn't want it and the conservatory didn't want it. This is just part of growing bananas and you can't save every pup, it's no big deal.

You can get hundreds of plants from one rhizome, but who wants to waste their time doing that when there are much better ways to do it.
This is just one little variegated nub with a bunch of offshoots.

I agree you can make unlimited pups with one small pup.
39 small pup on this one.
Only when I get that many variegated pups I will be selling for way less than you do. If I have the access to as many as you I would never smash them. I would just give them away!
It won't be long! I promise you.

So far you've lied about the price and you've lied about how great one of you friends corm was. Let me look through some photos and see what your others friend variegated plant looked like. I remember the leaf being broken because the seller doesn't secure the plant to the box.

Any further posts here are to be about bananas, not attacking others. This goes for more than one person here. Suspensions or bans come next.
Check your egos at the door and try to post things that are useful for others in growing bananas.

Going into a situation like this with your eyes open always helps.
These quotes were written last year.
...but the purpose of these posts is to highlight that it's the buyers responsibility to inspect the corm. Hoping it is in good condition is not the same as verifying it's condition and taking corrective measures if needed.
... this seller has some rare cultivars so I'd recommend him to most experienced growers.

I found out yesterday that tytaylor77 other friends variegated plant died after 2 or 3 weeks.
Here are photos of what it look like when it arrived in April.

Last week Tytalyor77 friend received this Veinte Cohol.
I sell 4 different sizes, a small pot, large brick, extra large brick, and a jumbo brick, and all are grown in a premium soilless mix.
The SH-3640 was a small pot and Highgate was a large brick for Tytalyor77.
Both of jeffaroo's plants were large bricks.
In the photo below is a jumbo brick that was shipped to a member yesterday.
Shipping one plant costs $12.40
Shipping two small pots or one jumbo brick is $17.05.
Any empty space is then filled with 2 inch thick solid styrofoam boards to prevent movement.
These bricks maximize the space in the box and protect all of the small feeder roots so they make it safely to their destination.
It is much better than shipping bare root with wet paper where some large roots may survive but many large roots get damaged and die and all of their small feeder roots die.

This week Tytalyor77 friend will receive the variegated plant below to replace the one that died.
This plant was much less expensive than the plant that died, so buying a quality plant certainly does not have to cost more.

The VC brick is truly amazing. It has taken off like a rocket. The bricks are a awesome way to do it there is no lost time.
And the variegated dwarf namwah is a beast thank you Keith for helping me add this to my collection. I have been wanting this one for a while :)

Did you receive your plant yet and is it in good condition?
Thanks tytaylor77, that's good feedback to hear. He has communicated very well so far and set up a "buy it now" for me. He is also holding it until I get back in town, which is nice. So far I am very pleased with the experience, if the plant is anywhere near as nice as what you show I'll be pretty happy.

Thanks PR. I'm assuming that's just sunburn from lack of chlorophyll in those areas? Mine does that as well but otherwise seems healthy putting up a new leaf every 4 to 5 days. If this one does well through winter here I'll likely replace some of my other variety with its pups (if I get any. ..no pups from any, all about 3 months ranging from 3 to 5ft high).

Getting back to Viente Cohol --- My mat has 4 pstems that should fruit this summer. Delicious little fruit. The pstem takes on a black coloring as it grows out. Twenty snails are great tasting ------- without the garlic oil!!!

If that corm died in three weeks, it wasn't the seller's fault. It isn't pretty, but it's not sickly, either. I don't think this one or the other one you found pics of came from the same seller Ty was talking about because Ty clearly stated they come bare and clean.(Which is also shown in his pics.)
See here where you quoted him:

They have other variegated varities also. 100% positive feedback and ship fast! (italics mine.)
I also can't help but wonder how on Earth you got a completed transaction including shipping and all on someone else's purchase... But I guess it doesn't say anywhere whose purchase it is, just what it is and the amount, not who purchased it, not even when. I tried searching the item number but it didn't find it.
It's all just a bit confusing.
