Anyone else having this problem?
Most of the times I access bananas.org with my iPhone. I have never had any annoying pop-ups with the iPhone on any website, but lately and only on bananas.org I get a pop-up "Congratulations. You have been randomly selected...". If I try to close it, I am automatically on a website "rightnetwork.club" and it tells me that "I am today's lucky winner of a gift card, Visa, Wal-Mart or whatever". I don't want any of their crap. It is super annoying. Closing the entire window means that I am also closing bananas.org, the back button usually works for a few minutes and back is the annoying pop-up. Any advice on what to do?
(BTW: it started with the thread "Investment in Nigeria". Quintessenz or not, who knows.)

I have no such problem and I made several post to the "Investment in Nigeria" thread.

I suspect you have a virus/malware or a hijack proxy. Run your virus & malware scanner. I don't use iPhone so I can't be of more help.

Mine does it also on iPad. I figured it was the site not me. I will check into it now. It is very annoying!! I had it a couple weeks before the Nigeria post also.

I think if you go into the browser (safari ?) settings and clear History & Website data; Cache; & cookies. This should get rid of the malware and any other popup ad links on the iPhone. ... If this doesn't work, then you have a tougher problem.

Maybe that's why I don't have the problem. I do it on a regular basis.

I use Chrome wit h adblocker... No ads or popups at all, ever. I know Mr. admin might not like that, but popups and flashing ads are very annoying. It's not for this site, anyway. I have shut it off on here before, and saw decent, normal ads, not annoying ones. Firefox also has a great adblocker. Apple is a different animal, so I don't know what you should do.

Must be a tougher problem. Did all this and double checked all my settings. First thing that showed up when logging back into my bananas.org account was the ANNOYING POP-UP.

Did you close all programs? Even on a windows PC running programs or malware will not delete. Does iPhone have an app to kill all running apps/programs except the OS? .... On a Pc use google to locate removal instructions for the malware/virus. I searched for the 'rightnetwork.club' popup.

I'm not an iphone tech nor do I use one, but the thing is still a small computer and still works much like a PC.

Sputinc7, thank you. Tried this one also, but unfortunately it is not working either.
Did some further research with Apple and apparently it is some spyware specifically attached to bananas.org and we will have to contact a moderator to deal with this.

If it is spyware, it is in YOUR computer. Kaspersky rescue disk will get rid of it. It gets everything.

Don't ask me how to do it on an ipad, google it. It is the best at removing any kind of malware. If it won't work on it, malwarebytes.com has the second best. Why pay for stuff you can get just as good for free?
I have used AVG free for real time protection and Malwarebytes for the occasional scan for bots that AVG might miss and when my mom's comp gets all goobered up, I use Kaspersky rescue disk and it is fixed. Been using this combo for over 5 years with no trouble, ever. All free. McAffee is useless and Norton is a resource hog that doesn't work as well as AVG, which is just my first line defense. Why pay for inferior products?

Thanks. I do use Kaspersky on all of PCs.
This particular problem only occurs on my iphone and only on bananas.org.
The Apple store checked my phone but since the problem only occurs on bananas.org, they came to the conclusion that bananas.org is infected with the spyware and only the administrator (maybe a moderator) will actually be able to look into the problem and fix it.
I have sent a PM to the bananas.org administrator/moderator team and see what they think.

OK ... Is Bananas.org set as your homepage and/or a link on the desktop? Malware/virus can specifically attach itself to the homepage or an link/app so that when you open it the malware will start too. This makes it appear to be part of the website popups.

Ref: https://howtoremove.guide/iphone-virus-removal/

Try this again after force closing Safari. ....
First you need to close all pop-ups that are currently open.

If the pop-up has a checkbox named “Don’t show more alerts from this webpage” click on the checkbox before closing the Ad.
If a Block Alerts button happens to appear after you shut down a pop-up on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch tab that button to stop receiving alerts from the same page.

In case that a pop-up fails to close after performing the above operations:

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch you can do the same by pressing the home button twice in a quick succession. You’ll then see a preview of all apps that have been recently used. Swipe left to find Safari and then swipe up on the app’s preview to close it forcibly In order to prevent Safari from opening unwanted windows on startup go to Settings->Safari and Clear History, as well as Website Data. This will also clear your browser history and cookies so keep that in mind and export them if you want to keep them.

Tell us what happen ....

I have forced closed lots of time. Deleted all history and web data. Just went to settings/safari/advanced/website data/ and deleted bananas.org. Didn't help.

Humm ... I can't be of much more help without an iPhone in my hand. ... Anyway I just looked at the source code of Bananas.org homepage. I didn't see anything that looked suspicious. However, the page does link to Google Adds (java script) and Facebook java scripts (adds?). So the problem might be coming from those; but doubtful of Google; ... Facebook, I don't know. ... I try to block Google adds on my system. I don't want that crap.

A few suggestions if you guys want to try them:

* Check auto opening apps for OS startup; user login; and Safari (Safari can auto start apps too) Look for anything you don't recognize and kill it.

* Check Safari home page link for extra code. This happen to me on Windows & Firefox about a year ago. I don't remember the specific details right now. But the code simply reloaded malware from a website at browser startup. ... I presume you guys do know browsers can open & hide a webpage window from view without you knowing.

* Setup a new user account and then under that 'clean' account install a DIFFERENT browser. Does the problem still exist when opening the Bananas.org page? If not, the problem is definitely on your iPhone. If the problem still exist then, may be/ may be not.

* I know this may be a pain but, ... if all else fails: backup your data and reset/re-install the system clean and basic apps if needed. Now if the problem still exist, the malware is coming from a network source; may be Bananas.org - may be not.

Have not had the problem for at least 24 hrs now.
Hope it was attached to bananas.org and it was detected and taken care off by our awesome moderators/administrators after I alerted them via PM.
Thanks everyone for your inputs and hope it will not happen again.
