Dwarf namwah would be my first choice if I were you. Coarse sand, gravel... Drainage.

I have java, saba, Namwah & assorted unknowns. I live in a sandy loam area with good drainage. The key is digging out a kiddy pool size hole and backfill with good stuff. I usually do a 50/50 mix with n'rich compost

Do you provide any kind of winter protection ? Do these produce for you ?

I take a piece of concrete reinforcement wire. (Lowes/hd) bend it into a circle like a oversize tomato cage. Now line it with 1/2" hardware cloth wire. Stake cage to the ground. When weather gets cold, fill it with bark/mulch. I buy broken bags at lowes for a dollar. This insulates the roots and stem. After 3 years or so I pull the cage and just mound up on the bases
My Namwah is producing right now
