A transplant to the south, i dream of going outside to pick ripe bananas from my very own plant. We have had banana plants for 2 years. Excited to noticed fruit at christmas time..but the bunch didn't ever develop. So I welcome a place to learn from experienced growers.

Welcome to the boards!! And welcome to Texas, don't mess with it!!I always wondered what would happen to someone if they actually messed with Texas, and what is the definition of messing? :ha:

Isn't Texas also the state with signs that say "DUI; You Can't Afford it?"

The "don't mess with Texas" sayings and signs, and "Willie says don't mess with Texas", is about not littering, lol.

And I think you're right about the DUI signs, I don't really pay attention to most signs much so not 100% sure.

Glad everybody got the joke, I was a little worried after I posted it lol.

Yes the "don't mess with Texas" is about littering. Texas has high littering fines upto $1000 for throwing trash out of a car, etc. there is a sign that says DUI - you can't afford it. Also I've seen banners and tickets saying "click-it or ticket - you can't afford it" for seat belts.

Texans learn the word "messing" early in life. My dad said "don't mess with the bull" me and some friends learned that word the hard way lol
