I think I potted this dwarf Brazilian Red about two and a half months ago and have been peeling away and cutting layers off to stop the spread of black, what I thought, rot. Seeing as my Gros Michel rotted, I was ready to remove it from the pot and replace the very good expensive soil with coarse sand. It was something I have seen others around here use to start corms. But then yesterday, low and behold I see it awakening atop, but also, you might see in the photo at about 3 o'clock, there's a small shoot/growth point poking out of the soil from the corm below.

It sits in a windowsill and receives supplemental lighting in the evenings. Although it looses about an hour between the sun setting and when I get home from work to turn the light on.
I suppose the Gros Michel didn't make it for a number of reasons? It didn't have nearly as much corm to work with and I may have stuck it too deep not being able to tell where it should sit. Hopefully I'll have another chance in the future!!

That geranium never stopped growing, clinging to the window.:0517:

I actually just stuck the dwarf red in the ground. Figured what the heck! Give it as much room to grow before I have to tuck it away again for the winter like my manzano. Which I need to get back outside, it's just beginning to wake up.

You mention using supplemental lighting in the evening during the winter. Would it be a good idea to leave the light on while the sun is up too? I grow indoors as well, so I wonder if the overall brighter light will be better for the plant. In winter, I suspect that most of us indoor growers can't provide quite as much light as the plants would like....just sayin'....

I would get them outside whenever it is warm enough to do so. Gradually adjusting them to the sunlight of course. I have seen very few plants that do not do better outside.

Depends on what you want out of your plants. Just keep them alive, in a state of rest, or growing? I grow a lot of plants from seed, and even with the brightest light I can afford, they will still lean towards the window on a bright sunny day.

Can you show us an updated photo of the plant, please?

What is a Dwarf Brazilian Red? Where did you get this plant from?

It's a variety the unicorns gave me when I befriended them in the forest:nanadrink:

Most likely it's a Dwarf Cuban Red. I've never heard of dwarf Brazilian Red. Gabe is the most knolegable banana expert here and was trying to help you find out what variety you are growing. Plant is looking great! Awesome job!

Yeah. I have so many plants floating around up in my brain I probably inserted the Brazilian in there for some dumb reason. Its putting out another leaf now too.
