Hi guys!

I have a Dwarf Cavendish - Musa acuminata that has been losing its leaves rapidly (more than normal). I lost 2 large leaves last week and now 3/5 remaining leaves are rapidly yellowing and browning. The new growth exhibits browning also. What might be the problem?

I only water when dry and fertilize monthly. She is under growlights to make up for lack of light in the winters here in Canada. There were spider mites but I got rid of them mostly and wiped the leaves down recently with really diluted alcohol get the dust and webs out of the leaves.

Welcome to the forum ... How long have you been growing potted bananas? You didn't mention growing any other banana plants, so I'm assuming this is your first one.

I do see you grow plenty of other plants and exotics. Bananas are easy to grow, but their needs and care are a little different than most house plants. I'm also finding that container grown Bananas are much more temperamental than yard/ground grown bananas. ... I'm also learning, so I don't claim to be an expert.

I see your moisture meter is at borderline dry. Normal plants would start stressing at this point. It needs a little water, however don't add just yet. Take the meter and push it into the root ball for the moisture reading there. If the reading is 'wet' or high, then I suspect fungus & root rot has set in.

Another question or 2, has this plant had a sudden change of environments (outside to inside; or greenhouse to house/inside)? ... Has it been fertilized recently?
