I saw this thread on another forum, and I wondered if anyone here could identify the banana from the photographs posted:

The banana bunch ripened (http://members3.boardhost.com/HardyPalm/thread/1479523449.html)

I do not know the poster, and I do not post on that forum, so I have no additional information.

The author of the post says that the plant was just planted this spring, which means the plant fruited very quickly.

The only banana that I have grown that has the ability to go from a 3 gallon pot to ripe fruit in one growing season in Veinte Cohol, which this plant clearly is not.

Thank you for any ideas,

Glen

The fruit looks like a Dwarf Cavendish. ... http://www.agristarts.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/plants.plantDetail/plant_id/62/typeID/37/index.htm

Thank you for the quick identification! That looks like a match to me. I guess I will have to track down one of these in the spring.

Thanks again,

Glen
