I live in sunny Arizona. I am just getting started with growing bananas.

May be someone from Arizona will chime in soon with advice. ... But Bananas don't like heat. They stop growing when temps go above mid 90's deg. So I think your's will need some afternoon shading from the heat of the sun. May be the shade of the house, fence, or other trees. Plant the trees in tighter groups of 4 or 5 so they can shade each other and pups coming up.
That's about all I can say as I don't know your growing conditions.
