people who know, know I think off the wall out off the box, I read a post on the germination thread. ensete glaucoma, first try sowing bananas. somebody by the alias of going bananas, posted a thread, tickling the embryo. I was vary interesting. it works I know I did it by accident. I put 10 snow banana seeds in pots. one was broken thru shipping. crushed as it were. I thru it in a pot and said what the hell. the only one that came up, within a week, was the broken one. tomorrow I am going to sterilize a sharp chisel and I am going to crack, like an egg, some Burmese blue and some snow banana seeds, just a couple, and put them in my incubator. wish me luck.

After scarfting the seed, soak it for 24 to 48 hours in slightly warm water.

http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=60798&size=1 (http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=60798&ppuser=24262)ok. so I started out with the snow banana seeds. I tried to use a really dull chisel first, but all I managed to do was dent the shell. it knew I was a knocken. so I went to a really sharp chisel, did what I figured, split 2 I half. the rest I got to crack, sometimes almost splitting them. did a total of seven. the ones that broke open almost, almost, resemble a walnut inside. but they did not look like the inside of the one that was broken by the post office machines. so I do not know if they are the same. the Burmese I did not try to crack. they were to small and I figured they would just fly everywhere. so I got out my dremel, put on a wood bit and used the end of it to drill into the side of them to expose the embryo. I put 11 more Burmese in the germinator without doing anything to them. I used the dremel on 11 more snow bananas for a total of 18 each. know we will see what happens. they are all soaking in water, In separate bowels. :2738:

You could also use the sanding wheel on the dremel to sand a couple of holes into the hull.

I used a wood grinding bit on my dremel to do it. it was a lot faster and I did not want to heat the hull. I just hit for a second with the end of it rotated the seed and hit it again. taking my time, no rush.
