TEXTURE-creamy and velvety, with a tiny bit of mealy texture. The outside edge of the fruit feels a bit starchy like a mysore, rose, or true Apple banana. More firm at the core.

FIRMNESS-Firm, especially for looking overripe based on the peel.

SWEETNESS-Very sweet.

TARTNESS-slight when ripe as pictured, a bit more a few days before that stage.

RIPENESS-report based on being very yellow with brown spots and patches. A Cavendish would be almost inedible to me at this stage, but it seems ideal for the Lilin.

FLAVOR-Initially I thought it tasted very much like a Brazilian, but has a different kind of fruitiness and some slight vegetal taste. I’d say it’s a bit of a mix of Brazilian and a Manzano/Silk/Apple. Overall the taste is very appealing and interesting. A bit more tartness would make it close to ideal.

OTHER-It’s quite flavorful. After a couple, it was almost too much, and the more firm core is not my favorite characteristic.

OVERALL RATING-8. This is a very good banana, and probably in my top 10. Texture isn’t perfect and it’s almost too sweet at the stage when the texture is best. Still, this is one I could eat all the time.

SUGGESTED USE-Out of hand, dessert, frozen. I’d think this is one that might be great dehydrated too.
