Wild - the pstem that produced the fruit will not produce any more leaves and will eventually die after the fruit ripens or freezes (depending on where you are geographically.
However, the root ball (corm) will not die and should produce pups.

Eventually you will have a "mat" and you might have 4 - 6 fruiting P-stems in a mat. Of course this depends on where you live.

seems to me people repeat what other people are saying. just got back into bananas. in the 80s I bought a house in Jacksonville fl. the property sloped back to the right hand corner, where it dropped about 6 feet, leveled off and went to a creek. my water to air discharged right there. somebody before me had planted bananas in the corner before the creek. I walked in mud when I went into these banana and the plants were about 15 ft tall. great tasting bananas, got 1 or 2 bunches a year. but to get them down I cut the stalk about 3 ft up. not knowing anything about bananas I left them that way. the next year the plant would come up from the center of the stalk and grow tall once again. you can try and see if your variety of banana will do this. if it does not come up this way all you have to do is cut the stalk at ground level when it does not come up by late spring and enjoy your pups. moral of the story, plenty of water good fertilizer, watch the growth rate and the leaves. if you don't kill them, do it differently.

Beam2050 you are saying the P-stem that had fruit hanging, you would cut at about three foot harvesting the fruit and that same P-stem would push from the center the next year and fruit again????
