Hi all - I've been lurking here all summer. Picked up a small Ensete Maurelii from a local nursery in late May and have been obsessed ever since! First time growing a banana here. As a banana newbie I've spent countless hours reading the threads on this forum over the summer and would like to thank everyone for your contributions! I have learned a ton.

When I picked up the Maurelii it had 4 leaves - the tallest of which was perhaps 3 feet off the ground. It is now so massive that the newest leaves now reach my 2nd floor balcony (see image in gallery)! I live on the water where it can get quite windy, so my leaves aren't as pretty as some others - I like the torn leaves though - gives it a nice rugged look!

Unfortunately it has only a few weeks left in its current state before I deadhead it and bring it in for the winter. I will be studying up on the overwintering threads here in the coming weeks to prepare.

Can't wait for next spring!!
