Hi guys!
André, from the North of France, happily growing Musa sikkimensis for the time being since last may.
I think I live in a USDA zone 7a/7b.
I always thought I could only grow ornamental bananas, but discovered this year that I could give a try at some edible ones.
So... The first one is a sikkimensis, that will hopefully give me some bananas next year (depending on the winter I'm afraid), and the next ones will be a Blue Java, and a Rajapuri (still looking for nice price in Europe).
For the time being, my banana "tree" is next to my veranda, making the most of the heat coming from the concrete foundation slab at night.
He drinks a lot, and grows like there is no tomorrow. :08:
I'm happy to have found this place.

Bienvenue Andre-
Welcome aboard the Banana Express. :nanerwaveytrain:
Bonjour André. Es-tu au courant que le Sikkimensis produit un fruit contenant des graines? Celles-ci sont très dures et peuvent casser une dent. Je classerais celui-ci dans les bananiers ornementaux. Bonne chance!

I picked out something about ornamental bananas, very hardy, a fruiting product and good luck, LOL.

I had read that the fruits were good despite the big seeds. As I don't have any other mature banana tree to cross pollinate, I thought I wouldn't get any seeds.
Was I wrong?

My wife already says I grow a jungle when she's in a good mood, a total mess the other days.

I'm pretty sure you're going to get a mouthful of seeds.
Soon you'll learn not to listen to your wife! Lol!

Des graines are seeds, aren't they?
Yes they are. Could be something else too if your mind is twisted... Lol!

Thanks.
I'm about to winterize my banana tree, still hesitating on the method.
