Hi everyone!

I hope you can help. I'm a first time owner of a potted banana tree we live in Berlin, I love him, but he's a difficult child.

At first I kept my plant (no idea which type of banana it is exactly) indoors, where it's shady and cool, about 66f / 19c. Then I placed him on our balcony where he had indirect sun. He really liked it there and grew new leaves. Then we had a cool July, so I took him back in.

The problem started last week we had temperatures of 86f / 30c so I finally decided to leave him out on the balcony for good, where its warm and humid until winter. After 2 days the older leaves started to go a pale yellow, soft and soggy at the stems. I'd love to find out what's causing this. Is it all because I've moved him too many times? Is there anything I could do to help him get better, or should I stop worrying and leave him alone to grow up :)

PS. I water him regularly, when the soil gets wet.

Any help would be really appreciated! Thank you

Willkommen bei bananas.org.

You need to repot your plant in a bigger pot with well draining soil and water sparingly. It looks that the plant was overwatered. But not hopeless, because the new emerging leaf seems healthier.

Viel Glück.

Thank you so much! That makes me feel more positive, I will repot and water less.

All the best from sunny Berlin
