I am meeting a good friend of mine tomorrow that lives about 3 hours north of me. He has kept a Red Iholene in his house for the past year because he was wanting to get it to me!!! Well, I finally worked it out to meet him halfway to pick it up. I have tried to get info on this with the only info I can find is the same quote as all the places on the internet. From what I have gathered it is rated a zone 8 nanner. Does anyone of here have one and any pics other than the generic shot of the flower? I was going to post this earlier, but I was still unsure if it would happen or not, and did not want to "jinx" it. It is supposed to be over 7' in height. Any info anyone has would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
Randy

I will try and post a pic of it when I get home tomorrow...

No experience with this one, Randy, but good luck. I'm sure you'll do well with it.

I have a couple little tc pups. I have only had them a month or so. I purchased them from Green Earth Inc.

I have a nice clump of Red and I love the fruit. Right now I have 2 trunks with fruit on them. It looks better in some shade - gets rather ratty and a little brown in full sun. Grows and pups good.

Hey Terry,
First of all, thanks for the pics. Those are beautiful nanners!!! I do have one question, though. From the little bit of info I have read on the internet, I thought the pstem was supposed to have some nice pinkish tint to it and the underside of the leaves were supposed to be a burgandy or pinkish coloration. From the pics above, I cannot see any of the characteristics. Is this beacause of the age of the pstems and from so much sun... I'm just wondering. Thanks again for the pics.

One more comment..Red Iholenes do not split when left on the plant to ripen..so you can leave them on the plant longer and the entire raceme gets fully developed...

Randy,

Here are some new shots of my Red Iho with 5 pups. This one came from Going Bananas as a wimpy bare root TC two years ago. Red colors can be seen plainly.

That's pretty cool the way the pups spaced out on that one. I've never seen one so evenly spaced.

I got two small plants last year here in 8b/9a. The smaller one had a pstem of about 1 inch when winter hit. The other was a little bigger. Only the bigger one came back, and it was a little slow to pop up.
