We moved into our new house in February and we're still trying to ID the plants ...we've had a few surprises as what I thought was a hosta turned out to be a peace lily growing in the flower bed (normally a houseplant here in the UK!)

Anyhow we noticed this springing up in the last couple of weeks...

I know it's probably not a 'nana but it does have a bit of that look to it...hosta??

I am gonna guess cannas. They should be dug up in the fall and replanted in spring, but sometimes they survive mild winters.

Does not appear to be a hosta, but it looks more like a young Canna/Ginger type bulb popping up .

A closer photo of first five inches the stem will give a better clue.
Or a photo of the bulb will give an even better clue.
You may also nick the bulb with your finger nail and smell it......if it smells like bum it is not ginger:)
Google canna bulb (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canna_(plant))to see lots of photos.
