Does anyone know when basjoo's really start taking off? Mine have been in the ground for the last month and only have put out one little tiny leaf. About 4" long. Temperatures have been in the 50s and 60s during the day and 40s at night. A few days hit the low 70s.

I dont know for sure.. Mine are still in pots in the greenhouse. Temps 50 ish at night 80s during the day. I get a new 2- 3 ft leaf about once a week.I think you will see more growth once the daytime temps get a little higher.

Hey Tim,
Here, my bananas (Basjoo reacts similarly to the others) are just starting to pick up with daytime highs anywhere from 70-80, and lows in the 60's and occasionally way upper 50's.
Keep in mind that the soil temperatures in Spring are colder than the air temperature...and extended periods of warmth are needed to stimulate quick root growth.

they like 75 F -80 F at day and around 55-60 degrees at night, when the temperatures are like that, with sun they will grow well:)

Good my Basjoo is also growing REALLY slow. I am experiencing like about the same temps, although the last week has been 40s and some 30s.... I cant wait for it to warm up a bit so I can admire it's true growth rate.
