This banana looks like a travelers palm the way it is so tight. Is this normal growth? None of the other banana plants look this way.http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=9713&size=1 (http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=9713)

Hey Heynow,
There are 2 things that could be happening there from what I have experienced.
1) What Lynn said, but it seems awful short to be blooming!
2) It is recovering from cold. Eventually, those old leaves will die or you could cut them, and the new ones will continually get larger as it gets warmer and you feed them.
Your plant has a very compact crown, and slow rotation. I think that #2 is more likely and the crown will spread out and you will not notice the slow rotation as much. Whatever the dealio, the new leaves certainly look healthy. Go Florida!

I think it may be ready to flower. Time will tell or maybe someone else here w/ more expertise can say for sure.:2182:

Never seen anything like that before. It appears that it has just gotten bound up from growing too fast. Probably a fluke. Looks kinda cool though.

Mine looks exactly like that and it's definately not a HCM. Check out my thread of my DC blooming at around 4 feet! http://www.bananas.org/f2/flag-leaf-my-dw-cavendish-4552.html
