This is to let you know that Darkman found his 11 Year old son not breathing in their back yard in Pensacola last Saturday. He administered CPR and his son is in a coma in the hospital. Prognosis is poor.

Dad said he was playing - swinging on a rope tied to a live oak limb and got tangled up.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

Buddy was playing with a swing he had built using a piece of a limb as a seat to the swing. The limb had broke and he apparently tied the two ends together and looped it under his arms and around his chest. He had climbed up on a wood rack and we believe he thought he could swing like Super man flus but when he came off the wood rack his weight of his lower body pulled him down and it tightened around his chest. The more he fought to get loose the more it tightened until he could not take a breath. This was a tragic accident and I found him within minutes of him loosing consciousness but we cannot be sure of the timeline entirely. I had seen him playing less than thirty minutes earlier. I thank God I found him in time to save him but we just do not know to what stage his brain was damaged. He looks like a perfect little boy resting in the hospital. The doctors gave him a paralytic since he was having total body muscle spasms which was interfering with the ventilator. Late tomorrow they will start weaning him off the meds and we will know more about his brain functions. Buddy needs your prayers. My wife and I need your prayers. Buddy is our grandson but we have raised him since he came home from the hospital after birth. This is the Monday morning report

Buddy rested peacefully through the night. The medication is giving him an opportunity to heal. It is all up to God at this point as he is the only one that can heal Buddy's brain. Everyone needs to pray for God's healing touch on Buddy.

The doctors will start weaning him off the medication late Tuesday to see how he will respond. We especially need your prayers then. The doctors do not have medicine that repairs the brain but God can. Let him hear your prayers. We do not know what God's will is but we can request that he heal Buddy and allow him to stay with us. God gave us Buddy to raise and we need to finish.

Please continue to pray hourly for God's healing powers.

Tuesday morning update

Buddy had a quite night which is good. They took him off the paralytic at 2:00am and his vitals have improved even more and he has not resumed the muscle twitches and jerking. We continue to talk to him and hold him as best we can with all the wires and tubes attached. We do not know if he can hear us but if he can we want him to know that we are here.

Later today we expect they will start reducing his other medications and try to wake him up. This can take days to weeks and the doctors say we should expect bad days and hopefully good days. They also may have to sedate him several times during this procedure depending on his responses.

They ran an EEG this morning to compare with yesterday's. From my observations the numerous line graphs were a little more active. We have not heard back from the neurologist.

We need excessive prayer for the next 48 hours. Let's keep Buddy name constantly in front of God.

Thank you for your prayers.

Tuesday night

Today has been rough. They took him off the paralytic and there was not any muscle twitching or jerking. They also took him off his sedatives. He has not shown any sign off waking up. A EEG they ran today shows there is brain damage of an unknown amount. This is devastating to me but I still maintain hope and continue to pray. God's will will be done.

Wednesday morning

Buddy has rested peacefully all night. All the medications that saturated his system will be metabolized by his liver today. There should not be anything stopping him from waking up at that point. That doctors have said that when he is ready he will if he can. We are just standing by praying over him, talking to him and giving our touch to reassure him we are there for him. He had a bit of infection in his lungs but that is clearing up with antibiotics. The road ahead is uncertain but with God at our side Tami, Buddy and I will take the journey with faith that God's will is in control. We cannot question it although our heart is broken. He has promised not to put more on us than we can bear even though it seems he has. Please continue with prayers.

I am so sorry for your earthly loss. Today my BIL is having a lung removed. He quit smoking over 30 years ago but has the same lung cancer his father had. I don't think the prognosis is good. My sweet sister will be so alone; they never had children. They helped raise my DS; he's a good man.

God does have a plan even though sometimes I wonder.

Sheldon “Buddy” Michael Buzbee

2004 – 2016

Sheldon “Buddy” Michael Buzbee, 11, of Pensacola, moved from life to eternal life and is now with his heavenly Father. Buddy would be a 5th grade student this fall at Brentwood Elementary.

He was an extraordinary boy who loved all sports, including basketball, swimming, and played Upward Baseball with the East Brent Baptist Church League. He wanted to know how things worked and loved playing with Papa’s tools, taking things apart, and building things with scrap wood. He had no fear and would climb large trees and was often found on rooftops, without our approval, jumping into the pool. He loved playing in the pool and on his waterfall in the backyard especially when his brothers and Summer, his mother, would come over and join in.

He loved his big sister, Carla, and took special pleasure in irritating her as only a loved, younger brother could. They spent many hours in the pool, played video games together, and every Friday night, they would go to Youth Night at the church.

He loved plants, nature and flowers often bringing Nana, whom he called Mom, flowers from the garden. He would help us plant vegetables and frequently checked on their growth, eagerly awaiting the harvest. He loved to walk through the garden sampling tomatoes, blueberries, blackberries, citrus, and figs. In truth there were two other things Buddy loved to eat. The first was making his own Hibachi bowl at the Chinese restaurant and the other was his pre-bedtime ritual of a large ice cream bowl covered, of course, with chocolate chips and chocolate shell icing. How he was only 80 pounds we do not know!

He loved young and old alike and some of his closest friends were our neighbors that he knew better than us. Some of his favorite times were when he and Nana would go to thrift stores seeking treasures. He loved a bargain and would negotiate the prices at garage sales buying only things that he alone could see the beauty in. But above all else, he loved his Nana who was his confidant, friend and nearly constant companion.

Buddy loved the Lord, his church, and his friends there. This week he was to be at church camp, his first time away from home; instead he went to Heaven, where God promised and delivered to him a mansion, a perfect body and mind. Buddy’s life, while short, brought so much pleasure to everyone who knew him. Buddy’s ‘go-to’ phrase so often was,

“Mom, It’s OK”

.…and it will be, but he will be missed by so many!

He is preceded in death by his great-grandmothers, Helen Hooper and Velma Milstid Reynolds, and his grandmother, Deb Odom.

Buddy leaves to cherish his memory: parents, Charles and Tami Buzbee, Summer Buzbee and Shawn Odom; siblings, Carla Villafane, Kewhan Jr., Aurelius, Addison, and Eriendi Landrum; grandparents, C.E. and (Margaret) Chavis; uncles, Chuck and Dan Buzbee; granny, Addie Landrum; and not forgetting numerous extended family members.

Pallbearers are: Sgt. James Hall, Kewhan Landrum Jr., Nate Reguilles, Daniel Buzbee, Charles Buzbee Jr., and Zach Wilson.

Our Heavenly Father gave us Buddy as a gift for nearly 12 years and we will always be thankful to God for this gift. In God’s unquestionable infinite wisdom and plans, Buddy is now with Him. We will always love and cherish the time and memories we shared even though it was for a short time, and we look forward to the day we will be reunited together in heaven. Buddy’s final gift was his organ donation where he saved five lives. He was our hero!

On Thursday, June 30, 2016, a visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the Celebration of Life service begins at 2:00 p.m. at the First Seminole Baptist Church, where Buddy was a member. Pastor Ray Williamson will be officiating. Seminole Baptist Church is roughly one mile across the Alabama state line, just off Hwy 90. on Browns Landing Road.

A Fellowship and Remembrance service, on Buddy’s behalf, will follow at East Brent Baptist Church on Davis Hwy in Pensacola. Please join us as we all share and remember the incredible special little man Buddy was. Trahan Family Funeral Home of Pensacola is in charge of arrangements.

The next time you have a bowl of ice cream, remember Buddy and the loving boy that he was!

Thankfully as we draw ever near to some closure I am keeping busy with the details. I have just finished Buddy’s Obituary and knowing that it will not be in y’alls paper I have sent it to y’all.

Thank you for your prayers.

You are all in our deepest loving & most heart felt prayers & love. We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Buddy. The news breaks our heart...especially knowing you are having to go through this.

Sorry we did not know about this sooner. We have been crazy busy trying to get my elderly mother moved in to our home with us.

May God be with you at all times while you go through this heartbreak.
