Hello. I am new to banana growing and have a question. i'm wondering if I cut the leaves off the plant once the bulb starts producing bananas if it will provide more energy for the growing bananas. It may sound kind of dumb, but as i was looking at the plant, it ran across my mind. Thanks for your input.

No. It needs leaves to help fill the bunch. I never cut anything after I see a flower. Even bad looking old leaves if green are helping. Leaves is where the energy is coming from the more the better.

You have to look at the leaves as though they were solar panels. The collect the sun to produce energy to power the fruit production.

Hi there-
Welcome to the Banana Express. :nanerwaveytrain:
Solar panels are a good analogy. :08: That is, in essence, what all leaves are anyway. They convert sunlight into energy. The flowers and fruit are the result of that energy, not the cause of it.
