I have ordered some cold hardy banana plants off ebay; however, my daughter had purchased several from the local department store which I planted outside. The leaves are all turning dark and sickly on one of them whereas 3 of them look great...they are just a little damaged from moving. I don't know what type it is. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm not very knowledgable on banana trees but intend to learn.

the plants weren't used to sunlight i think, so they are al sunburned now.

I just cut the damaged leaves off. Do you think it will survive or should I dig it up?

They just need time to acclimate.

Hi there Sharon, just leave it in the ground. If it does die, it will send up another plant(s), this is called pupping in laymens terms and the baby plants are called pups. If you get more than two you'll want to split (remove) some off so thatit doesn't stress the rhizome. The plant becoming stressed can also cause pupping! Also be paitent as it can sometimes take months for a plant to recover. GOOD LUCK!
