OK, I have noticed something and wanted to ask you experts if it is true... So far this May, we have been running a little below normal, temperature wise, and my bananas seem to be alot slower than in the past couple of years. Currently we are running about 4" below normal in rainfall and want to supplement my watering. I am just hesitant because of the temps. Should I wait until the temps rise before I start pumping the water to them, or could I go ahead and give them water. Don't want to waste my water or hurt the nanners but they seem to just be sitting there. Is it the soil temps that are slowing them? Advice would be appreciated...

same thing for me
here i the netherlands(23 C sunny ) i got a basjoo that i think i have watered to much.
it is in a container and is growing.
the reason why i asked this is that i never keep basjoo outside but in a greenhouse, this one is outside.]
can you overwater it easily at this period of time ?

I don't think it's very easy to overwater in a container. Right now we're in the low 90's and I'm having to water ALL of my plants once a day, and some of them twice! Randy, with where you are and the temps there right now, I'd probably water every other day until it hits above 85. Thats when I had to start watering everyday.

Randy,
Most of your bananas are in the ground, right? If so and you don't feel that the ground temps have warmed enough, I wouldn't go throwing the water to them too soon. If you're still a little on the cool side, once a week should be plenty until you are getting consitently warm temperatures.

I agree. Don't start watering the heck out of them just yet. Wait until we start getting into the 80s (on a consistent basis) anyway.
