I have a question about the "super" small banana cultivars. I've seen descriptions where they only get 3 or 4 feet tall on some. My question is, how is that possible...I mean, the banana could produce not very many leaves and achieve 3 feet...but obviously it's not gonna flower. But even if the bottom leaves die off, that doesn't affect the height when new leaves come in. Can someone please explain that to me? Thanks!

The leaves grow very tight against each other, sometimes, so tight that they choke.

Mine that I grow get to be about five feet overall, but like he said, there's only like 1/2 inch or less in between the leaves so they look kind of cool. They look kind of like a tall banana that you pushed on the center of the plant and telescoped them back down short!

I'm hoping to get my SDC to fruit this year. It grew outside all last year and I overwintered it in a greenhouse this past winter to keep it actively growing, so I'm hoping for the best with it this year. Those pics of them with fruit are just too cool!
