How do you all water your bananas? Do you have additional irrigation around them to supply extra water? How long does it take them to get established initially and do they continue to need abundant water? I'm especially curious about those that live in semi-arid areas.

Twice per week, as if you are growing an Avocado tree.

That's a good question! When it's hot and dry I will water every day just to help keep the humidity up.

Last summer I watered every day!
When it got really hot (100*F), I watered twice a day! Early am, then early pm.

Wow! Was that until the bananas got established or is that the norm even after they're established?

I've installed a drip irrigation system around some of my bananas. I plan on putting it on other aswell. It's been in the 100's here w/out rain so the soak really helps them out I think. Although even the day after watering they do seem to sulk some what from the heat.

I use the mister system from Lowes. Its set for 3 gallons an hour on most plants. The shade house has mister system with spinner heads hanging from the roof.
