Assuming someone has one... I gave mine a big haircut and was wondering how long to let the arms dry before I poke them in the ground to make new plants?

I haven't taken cuttings of this particular species. Based on experience with other cacti/succulents:
Let the cuttings dry at least a couple of days. A few days extra likely won't hurt.
It's more important not to overwater once you get them in the soil. There should be enough stored moisture in the stems to get new growth started, and if you keep the soil wet the new roots will simply rot. I try not to water for a month or so after potting.
