My avocado is now in full bloom, and suddenly a horrible hornet flew to the
tree and then other usefull intermediators flew away. Thus the hornet mono-
polized the tree. What was the aim of its visit? Honey or insects?

Do not try and change the insect balance of your garden...in other words let the bugs work things out.....hornets/wasps are beneficial and a necessary part of the garden/insect world...

hornets, wasp, spiders, ladybeetles, greenlacewings, mantis, etc..are all great bugs to have visit your plants, trees and flowers. there are microscopic bugs and bad bugs you can see in the garden that can harm and even kill your plants. these beneficial bugs can see these tiny little pest and they are a#1 on the moveable buffette list for the beneficials. if the beneficial bugs are visiting your yard, consider yourself very luck.they are doing the hard work for you. everytime i see an aphid on my roses i know there is a ladybeetle, green lacewing or a wasp close to it. just be glad these beneficials are there, you dont have to use chemical warfare.:2761:

Certainly leave those beneficials alone. They'll take care of the bad bugs.
