Hi everyone! :2688:

I'm a 28 year-old girl from Germany, and a total newbie to bananas.

Starting out with 5 musa balbisiana seeds that have been in my mini green house for about 3 weeks now at temperature between 24 and 27 degrees C and a few other seeds, the only thing that germinated so far are all 5 of 5 petticoat palms after only two weeks (no big wonder I guess...).

I seeded the bananas because my brother has two one year old bananas (balbisiana or basjoo, he's not sure) which are really big and look most beautiful.

I also raised some other plants last year: There's Bird of paradise (Strelitzia reginae) raised from seeds, and my boyfriend killed my one year old Traveler's Palm a few months ago while I was away. ^.^

By reading this forum, I hope to optimize the conditions for my banana seeds.

Thanks!

...I already learned that I did some things wrong... like my seeds have almost constant temperature on days without sun, I soaked them only for 2 days before planting, and I vent the mini greenhouse every day (because there are other non-banana seeds in there, and I don't want mold to build).

But for my brother's banana seeds that worked anyway...

Now I think about taking the seeds out there and giving them there own plastic case. But then they could already have roots... hmmmmmmm. I'll think about that a little.
