A tree fell on my plant and I cut it back to the damaged part. Now it is pushing a flower with no leaves. Should I wait and see what happens or cut it back and let the daughter take over?http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=9162&size=1 (http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=9162)http://www.bananas.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=9163&size=1 (http://www.bananas.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=9163)

I agree. Looks like you just nipped it at tip of the bud! My Grandmother purposely cut down some of the tall bananas that she had in her yard so that it will do exactly that. Bloom and fruit at a manageable height. Of course she knows exactly when to cut them from when she was a child. Wish I asked her back when we visited her then when to do it. At that time it was just a novelty for us. Given the time of year your plant is blooming, you have all spring, summer, and fall to let it ripen!
Congratulations!

Very cool pic. I would just watch it and see what happens. Keep a good log with photos to show its progress. Red

How's your plant doing? Any fruits?

Try to cut back all of the browned bark and expose the green bark. That way the green bark can feed some food to the fruit to make them bigger via photosynthesis.
